If you are looking for GetYourGuide reviews for Mallorca, here is the short answer: it is reliable for booking a catamaran, a sunset boat or an entry ticket in Palma, with good cancellation terms, but it is not the boat operator. When something goes wrong on the day, the operator is the first to answer for it, and that is where most complaints come from.

  • No refund within 24 h or if you do not show up

What GetYourGuide is and who runs it

GetYourGuide is a booking platform based in Berlin (GetYourGuide Deutschland GmbH). Its terms describe it as an intermediary and commercial agent for its suppliers: you buy through it, but the contract for the trip is with the boat company or the guide. If you live in the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK or Switzerland, payment is taken by a local company within the group. So GetYourGuide charges you, refunds you and looks after you, but it does not decide whether the catamaran sails in a swell: the skipper does.

What GetYourGuide sells in Palma de Mallorca

There is plenty on the water. In Palma you will find 4–5 hour catamaran trips with lunch and a swim, sunset cruises with music, the Palma Cruises dolphin-watching trip, private boats with a skipper, jet skis, parasailing in the bay and glass-bottom boats from Paguera. It also sells the cathedral entry ticket.

Among Palma's boat listings, the one with the most reviews is the 5-hour catamaran with lunch and a swim: from €59 and more than 12,000 ratings. To choose between types, see our guides to catamarans in Palma and sunset boat trips.

How payment works: reserve now, pay later

You can pay when you book or use "reserve now, pay later". With this option only credit cards are accepted: €0 is charged at booking and the full amount is taken 72 h before the activity, not 24 h before. If the charge fails, you have 47 h to pay manually; if you do not, the booking is cancelled automatically.

Cancellation, refunds and bad weather

GetYourGuide's general rule is clear: full refund if you cancel more than 24 h before the start. Within those 24 h, or if you do not show up, there is no refund, unless the listing says otherwise. Each trip can have its own policy, so read it before you pay. The money goes back to your original payment method or, if you choose, as a gift card.

If the operator cancels because of bad weather or force majeure, you get the booking price back. In Palma that happens mostly with a swell or with the embat, the south-westerly sea breeze that picks up in the afternoon; that is why morning departures are usually calmer. Our guide to the best time to go out on a boat has the month-by-month detail.

Prices: GetYourGuide vs the boat operator

In the cases we compared, the difference is small. The 5-hour catamaran with lunch and a swim starts at €59 on GetYourGuide; for reference, Magic Catamarans also charges €59 on its website for its 5-hour Magic Bahía de Palma (they are different listings, so compare what each includes). The cathedral ticket costs from €11 on the platform against €10 on the official website.

Where there is a difference is with operators that offer an online discount. Palma Cruises sells its dolphin trip for €55 at the quay and takes 10 % off on its website (€49.50), while on GetYourGuide it is listed from €55. GetYourGuide has a best-price guarantee: it refunds the difference if you find the same activity, with the same supplier and the same conditions, cheaper elsewhere. If the direct fare does not come with the same cancellation terms, it does not count.

Customer service

GetYourGuide offers a help centre, phone, live chat and email. According to its terms, it normally replies within 24 h and at most within 48 h. For questions on the day (where the boat is, whether it is sailing in this wind), the quickest route is the chat with the supplier that opens from your booking in the app.

What travellers say

When we checked, GetYourGuide had 3.9 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 56,625 reviews, 19 % of them one-star. Recurring complaints on Trustpilot are supplier cancellations or overbooking, unclear meeting points, refund disputes after a bad-weather day and uneven quality between suppliers. What gets the most praise is the guides and how easy the app is to use.

In Palma, look at each listing's own rating rather than the platform's, and confirm the exact quay: there are several piers along the Passeig Marítim (the seafront promenade), and our guide to departures from Palma port tells you which is which.

When to book direct with the operator

Book on GetYourGuide when you want flexibility, to pay later or to compare several options at a glance. Go to the operator's website in these cases:

  • Online discount: Palma Cruises (−10 %) and Barcos Azules, the Sóller to Sa Calobra boat (−10 % on its website). See Sóller and Sa Calobra.
  • Last-minute availability: Barca Samba warns that, at short notice, resellers may show seats it no longer has, and the price is no higher direct.
  • Cheap short trips: Mallorca City Boat's 55-minute trip, €19 from the Escala Real (the old royal landing steps) by the Moll Vell, is easy to book direct; we explain it in Mallorca City Boat.

Alternatives to GetYourGuide in Mallorca

Tiqets is stronger on tickets (cathedral, aquarium, sightseeing bus) than on boats. Civitatis has the best Trustpilot rating (4.5) and sells Palma Aquarium at the official price (€30.50). Viator works the same way, with cancellation up to 24 h before; Click-Mallorca is an agency in Port d'Alcúdia, and Headout has hardly any boats on the island. The overview of them all is on our operators and platforms page.
