Boat trips in Palma de Mallorca come in a handful of formats that look very similar in the brochure and rather less so on the water: how many people get on board, whether drinks are included, which quay you leave from and what time the breeze catches you. Above you have every bookable departure, with filters by type and departure point. This guide helps you decide which Palma boat tour is yours before you open the calendar.

Catamaran cruises and boat tours around the Bay of Palma

Almost every catamaran follows the same route: it leaves the Muelle de las Golondrinas (Golondrinas quay), opposite the Auditòrium, crosses the bay to the south-east and anchors off the Llucmajor coast, at Cova Verda, Cap Rocat, Cala Vella or Cala Blava, inside the marine reserve. If an advert for a catamaran from Palma promises Portals Vells, ask: none of the big operators includes it.

Three things change from one boat to the next:

  • Drinks. Magic Catamarans (€59, 5 h, 10:00 to 15:00 or 15:30 to 20:30) includes soft drinks and water all day, plus sangria and wine with lunch. Oasis only includes water, and on Attraction every drink is extra: at the bar a cocktail costs €15, a beer €4–5 and water €2.
  • Numbers on board. Attraction's boat (€85) is licensed for 145 passengers. Magic Plus caps at 35 (€74), Oasis Premium at 55 (€89–93 depending on the date) and Oasis Blue at 22 (€99–109). Fewer people, dearer ticket.
  • Toys. For paddling, choose Oasis (stand-up paddleboarding on every trip) or Magic Plus (paddleboard and kayak); the others carry no boards. Snorkelling gear isn't always free either: Magic asks for a €10 or €20 deposit and Oasis charges €20 for the kit, so bring your own mask.

From Playa de Palma, Life & Sea leaves S'Arenal with a 2-hour catamaran for €40 (no food) and a 4-hour one with a barbecue and a drink for €65; children aged 3 to 12 pay half. On a tight budget, Magic's afternoon Sea Tapas costs €39: 3 h 30 with a long stop at Cala Vella. More in catamarans in Palma and snorkelling and paddleboarding.

Short bay cruises and glass-bottom boats

The cheapest boat ride with the Cathedral as a backdrop is the Mallorca City Boat (formerly Cruceros Marco Polo): 55 minutes, €19, Monday to Saturday every hour from 11:00 to 17:00, from the Escala Real next to the Moll Vell (old quay). There's no swim. For three hours, Palma Cruises' Palma Boat Tour costs €27 on its website and includes a swim stop.

In Calvià, Cruceros Costa de Calvià's semi-submersible Esmeralda Dos spends 2 hours along the western side of the bay for €30 (children €20), with daily departures at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00 from Magaluf beach and a few minutes later from Son Matias and Palmanova. It's sold as "Dolphin", but it hugs the coast and dolphins are not guaranteed. Board at Magaluf to pick your window seat. More in glass-bottom boats.

Sunset cruises, party boats and dolphin watching

Sunset. The cheapest is Magic's Sunset Bahía: 19:30 to 21:00, with a sangria, a glass of cava or a soft drink and a snack, for €20 (children aged 7 to 14, €10). Longer trips with food cost more: Attraction (17:00–21:00, swim at Cala Blava, €85), Oasis, adults only, from €78, and Life & Sea from S'Arenal, 3 hours with a barbecue for €75. The sun sets around 21:22 in late June and at 19:33 on 1 October, and departures move with it. Compared in sunset cruise in Palma.

Party. Palma's party boat is the Barca Samba: up to 112 passengers, dance floor and DJ, from Golondrinas. The sunset trip (19:00, 3 h) costs from €49.90 and the night trip (22:30) from €39.90, both for over-18s only. Pizza or a buffet and water are included; the bar is extra, and the sunset swim only happens from June to August. A boat with alcohol and music cannot pick up passengers in Magaluf, Playa de Palma or S'Arenal: if you're offered boarding on Magaluf beach, be wary. See party boats in Mallorca.

Dolphins. There are two genuine trips in the bay. Palma Cruises, from Golondrinas: 3 hours, €55 boarding at the quay or €65 with hotel pick-up, with 10% off on its website. It sails in the morning and early afternoon; the exact time is on your ticket. Life & Sea, from S'Arenal and Can Pastilla, costs €80 (children €70) and runs the only sunrise trip, at 06:00. The 90% sighting rate Palma Cruises advertises is its own figure. A legal boat doesn't chase dolphins or get closer than 60 metres. More in dolphin watching in Mallorca.

Private boat, llaüt, sailing boat and jet ski

A boat for your own group costs about the same as six or seven seats on a premium catamaran, and you decide the route with the skipper. Prices seen in Palma:

  • Llaüt with skipper from the Real Club Náutico de Palma: €590 per group, up to 5 people, 5 hours, with nibbles, three drinks per person, snorkelling and paddleboard.
  • Llaüt "Mar i Cel" from Can Pastilla: €690 for a half day, up to 9 people, with skipper, fuel and drinks.
  • Bona Vida Charter llaüts: from €550, 4–5 hours, skipper extra.

Always ask whether the price includes skipper and fuel: on llaüts it usually does, on motorboats often not. The llaüt, the traditional wooden Balearic boat, is slow and stable, with a sun awning; ideal with children or grandparents. From Club de Mar you're closer to Illetes; from Can Pastilla, to Cala Blava, so you spend less time sailing and more time swimming. See private boat in Palma and sailing in Palma.

Jet skis. Guided tours leave from Club Nàutic Cala Gamba, between Palma and Can Pastilla: 30 minutes in front of the Cathedral from €99 or 1 hour round Los Deltas from €169. Two fit on each jet ski: ask whether the price is per jet ski or per person. Parasailing at S'Arenal costs €65 per group of 2 or 3, never solo. All of it in jet skis and water sports.

Full-day boat trips in Mallorca: Es Trenc, Cabrera and Sa Calobra

Es Trenc. Attraction Catamarans runs a full day from Palma, 09:00 to 19:00, for €200. No boat lands on the beach: it anchors over sand and you swim from the boat. Much cheaper: drive to Colònia de Sant Jordi and board there with Life & Sea (€39 for 3 hours, €55 for 4 hours with a barbecue). Life & Sea's "Es Trenc taxi" from Can Pastilla or S'Arenal (€40) drops you at Colònia's harbour, about a 20-minute walk from the sand. See full day at Es Trenc.

Cabrera. Boats to the national park leave only from Colònia de Sant Jordi, from €45 (3 h, about 45 minutes ashore) to €69 (6 h, about 3 h 30 on the island). From the Bay of Palma only Life & Sea goes: €90, 9 hours. The castle is closed inside and the island has no restaurant or drinking fountains, just a canteen: bring water and cash. See Cabrera.

Sa Calobra. Barcos Azules links Port de Sóller and Sa Calobra daily from 1 April to 31 October: €35 return, €23 one way, 10% less at barcoscalobra.com. There are only two return sailings, at 13:45 and 16:40, so many people go by boat and come back by road. It pairs with the train from Palma: Sóller and Sa Calobra and Sóller train.

Further afield, the south-east coves from Cala Figuera, with small boats to Caló des Moro from €42, and the ferry from Port de Pollença to Formentor beach, €18 with an open return and the last boat back at 16:30, in Alcúdia and Pollença.

Palma has two tourist boat quays about 1.5 km apart, and mixing them up is the most common mistake:

  • Muelle de las Golondrinas, on the Passeig Marítim opposite the Auditòrium: Magic, Oasis, Attraction, Barca Samba and Palma Cruises. Parking is hard; Magic recommends the pay car park at Marquès de la Sènia.
  • Escala Real, next to the Moll Vell and below the Cathedral: the Mallorca City Boat, the Oasis Lux and the boat that comes over from Magaluf. You can walk there from the old town.

Private boats leave from Club de Mar, on the west side of the port, and from the Real Club Náutico de Palma. Cruise passengers reach the Passeig Marítim on EMT bus line 1 (cruise port). Details in boat trips from Palma port.

Calvià. Costa de Calvià boards on the beaches of Magaluf, Son Matias and Palmanova: glass-bottom boat, the 4-hour Day at Sea with water slides (€60, Wednesdays and Sundays) and the boat to Palma on Tuesdays and Saturdays (€32 return, about 4 hours free in the city). See from Palmanova and Magaluf.

S'Arenal and Can Pastilla. Life & Sea leaves from its office on the beach, next to Club Nàutic S'Arenal (in the municipality of Llucmajor), and from the entrance to the Can Pastilla sailing club, 5 minutes from the "Cala Estancia" stop on buses 31, 32, 35 and A2. With a pushchair or wheelchair, Can Pastilla is the better option: at S'Arenal you reach the boat across the sand. See boat trips from El Arenal.

When to go: the embat, the season and time of day

Better in the morning. In summer the south-westerly breeze, the embat, comes into the bay after midday and peaks around 14:00, with a short choppy sea. If you get seasick, book the 10:00 departure, sit in the middle of the lower deck, look at the horizon and avoid alcohol before boarding.

The water. The sea is around 21 °C in June, 24 °C in July, 26 °C in August, almost 25 °C in September and 22 °C in October. August and September have the warmest water, but September is the stormiest month; October is still swimming weather, though it has the most rainy days.

Season. Each operator sets its own: Oasis sails from late April to October and Barcos Azules from 1 April to 31 October, and the one-hour bay cruise was still running in October. Month-by-month figures in weather and best time to go.

Wind. The skipper decides; if they cancel, you get a refund or a new date. Keep a plan B on land: things to do in Palma starts five minutes from the quay.

Rules that change your choice

  • Jet skis. Without a qualification, only on a marked circuit or a guided tour, with one instructor for every four jet skis and two people per jet ski. Age: 18, or 16–17 with parental consent.
  • Party boats. They cannot pick up customers in Magaluf, Playa de Palma or S'Arenal, nor come within one nautical mile of those areas. At Golondrinas, the Port Authority put the quay out to tender with a condition that would exclude party boats; the tender was challenged in court and shelved, to be relaunched. Check before you go.
  • Posidonia. Anchoring on posidonia seagrass is banned, with fines from €100 to €3,000 for minor cases and up to €2,000,000 for very serious ones. With your own boat, check the Govern's map viewer (Govern = the Balearic government) and use the mooring buoys at Cap Blanc–Cala Blava (24) or Sant Elm (23), bookable on the day at reservas.portsib.es from €3.93.

How to book and cancel

How to book your boat trip

  1. Choose a format and departure point in the table and filter the trip grid by type and quay.
  2. Check what's included: drinks, food, snorkelling, maximum passengers and hotel pick-up.
  3. Check that departure's cancellation window and leave a spare day in case it's cancelled for wind.
  4. Arrive 10–15 minutes early and check on your ticket whether it's Golondrinas or Escala Real.

Deadlines. Magic, Oasis, Barca Samba and Life & Sea refund up to 24 hours before. Attraction asks for 48 hours (24 with €5-per-person insurance). Palma Cruises refunds in full up to three days before and keeps 20% after that.

Platforms. On GetYourGuide, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before by default. With "reserve now, pay later", the charge comes 72 hours before departure: if your card expires before then, the booking drops. Its Trustpilot score was 3.9 when we checked. See GetYourGuide reviews and operators and sellers.

Direct. Palma Cruises and Barcos Azules give 10% off on their websites. Barca Samba charges the same as resellers, but warns that at the last minute they may show seats it no longer has.

Boat trips in Palma: frequently asked questions

How much is a boat trip in Palma de Mallorca?

The cheapest boat trip with views of the Cathedral costs €19 (55 minutes, no swim). With a swim stop, €27 to €40; a 4–5-hour catamaran with lunch, €59 to €93; a private llaüt with skipper, €550 to €690 per group.

Where do boat trips leave from in Palma?

Almost all the catamarans, the Barca Samba and Palma Cruises leave from the Muelle de las Golondrinas, opposite the Auditòrium. The 55-minute cruise leaves from the Escala Real, below the Cathedral, 1.5 km away. Private boats leave from Club de Mar or the Real Club Náutico.

Which catamaran cruise in Palma is best with children?

A morning catamaran with lunch and a swim, such as Magic Catamarans' 5-hour trip: soft drinks are included and under-7s go free. Party boats are for over-18s only.

Can you hire a boat without a licence in Palma de Mallorca?

Not any more. Since 1 October 2026 any motorboat hire requires a boating qualification. The quickest is the licencia de navegación, about 6 hours of theory and practice combined; otherwise, hire with a skipper.

What happens if my boat trip is cancelled for bad weather?

If the operator cancels for wind or sea, you're normally offered another date or a refund; on GetYourGuide you get your money back. If you cancel because it's cloudy, the normal deadlines apply.

What's the best time of day for a boat trip in Palma?

The morning. The south-westerly breeze comes in after midday and peaks around 14:00, so the sea is usually flatter at 10:00.
