Palma's hop-on hop-off bus is run by City Sightseeing: a sightseeing bus that loops round the city on a circular route with 19 stops, from the Cathedral to Castell de Bellver, the cruise port and the Passeig Marítim (the seafront promenade). You can get on and off as often as you like for 24 hours (or 48, depending on the ticket).
The short version before the detail: it's worth it if you only have one day, arrive by cruise ship or want to see Bellver without walking up through the woods. If you're only interested in the old town, the Cathedral and the Arab Baths, you can do it all on foot and save the fare.
Palma hop-on hop-off bus prices: ticket types
City Sightseeing uses dynamic pricing that changes by day, so treat these as "from" prices. This is what the official website sells:
| Ticket | What's included | From |
|---|---|---|
| Bus 24 h | Unlimited bus, audio guide, map and cap | about €31 |
| Bus + Bellver or Poble Espanyol | 24 h bus + one of the two admissions | about €34 |
| Bus + 6 attractions | Bus + six admissions | about €53 |
| Bus + 9 attractions (48 h) | 48 h bus + Cathedral, Arab Baths, Palau March, Es Baluard, CaixaForum, Museu Marítim, Castell de Sant Carles, Bellver or Poble Espanyol, plus a boat trip or immersive show | about €65 |
Passes are valid for 12 months from purchase and have free cancellation, so you can buy before your trip and pick the day as you go.
On the booking platforms the 24-hour ticket is sometimes cheaper than on the official website: GetYourGuide and Tiqets list it from €27. Compare the same ticket on both here:
| Platform | Product | Rating | Price | Where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GetYourGuide | Palma de Mallorca: City Sightseeing Hop-on/Hop-off Bus Tour | 4.1 (5,165) | €27 | See on GetYourGuide |
| Tiqets | City Sightseeing Palma de Mallorca: 24-Hour Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour | 3.8 (18) | €27 | See on Tiqets |

Is the 9-attraction pack worth it?
Do the sums with the official prices. Cathedral (€10), Es Baluard (€8), Bellver (€4) and the Arab Baths (€3.50) add up to €25.50; with the bus at about €31, you're already at about €56.50 with just four visits. If you'll go into two or three more museums within 48 hours, the pack at about €65 pays off.
It doesn't pay off if your visit falls on a Sunday or Monday: the Cathedral is closed to sightseeing on Sundays, Bellver is free that day and closes at 15:00, and on Mondays Bellver, Es Baluard and the Palau de l'Almudaina are closed. Nor if you're going on a Friday and only wanted Es Baluard, which is "pay what you like" that day.

Where to catch the hop-on hop-off bus in Palma
You can board at any stop, but two matter most:
- Stop 1, Antoni Maura: right opposite the Cathedral and next to the Palau de l'Almudaina. This is the one if you're staying in the centre or starting with the old town.
- Stop 14, Estació Marítima: the closest to the Poniente/Peraires terminal. If you arrive by cruise ship, start here (our cruise port guide explains how to get around from each quay).
The bus is wheelchair accessible, and dogs can travel in a carrier. The audio guide comes in eight languages.

Hop-on hop-off timetable and last bus
The service runs 10:00–17:30:
- 10:00–14:30, a bus every 30 minutes.
- 14:30–17:30, one every 45 minutes.
That change in frequency matters more than it seems. In the morning, if you get off somewhere for an hour, the next bus soon comes along. In the afternoon you can wait nearly three-quarters of an hour at a stop. Plan your longer stops for the morning and keep the afternoon for short hops, or for sitting back and taking in the city with the audio guide.
Note: the frequency is approximate. The last bus that completes the route to Bellver leaves stop 1 at 17:15 (explained below), so don't count on a departure at 17:30. Times for each stop and the last bus are published on the City Sightseeing website; check it the day before, as they can change with the season.
The Bellver trap: getting to the castle too late
Bellver is the stop that most justifies the ticket: the castle sits on top of a wooded hill and, without a car or the sightseeing bus, you walk up. But it is also where most people miss out.
Do Bellver in the morning
The last bus to reach stop 10 (Castell de Bellver) leaves stop 1 at 17:15 and gets there around 17:45. If the barrier on the castle road is closed, the last bus that can stop there is the 16:30. And from October to March the castle closes at 18:00 and stops selling tickets 45 minutes earlier, at 17:15: on the last bus you arrive after you can no longer get in.
Castle opening times, according to the Ajuntament de Palma (city council):
- October to March: Tuesday to Saturday 10:00–18:00; Sundays and public holidays 10:00–15:00; closed Mondays.
- April to September: Tuesday to Saturday 10:00–19:00; Sundays and public holidays 10:00–15:00.
- Closed on 1 January, Easter Sunday, 1 May and 25 December.
- General admission €4, concession €2; free on Sundays and for under-14s.
- It can close without notice in bad weather, because it's inside the forest park.
Sunday is tempting because entry is free, but the castle closes at 15:00. If that's your day, go up on one of the first buses. And if you're there on the first Sunday of the month, the Fundació Miró, which the sightseeing bus also serves, is free in the morning: both close at 15:00, so do them back to back.
Without the sightseeing bus, you can reach Bellver on EMT buses 4, 20 and 46 to El Terreno: from Plaça Gomila you walk up C/ Bellver and a flight of 463 steps, about 20 minutes on foot.

Hop-on hop-off bus + boat: the combo with a trip round the bay
City Sightseeing also sells a 50-minute boat trip round Palma's port and bay, on its own or combined with the bus. Here's what you need to know:
- Season: 1 April to 30 November, Monday to Saturday. No boat on Sundays.
- Departures every hour from 11:00 to 17:00 from the Escala Real, by the Moll Vell, below the Cathedral (a few minutes' walk from stop 1).
- Collect your boarding card from the kiosk next to the departure point.
- A bottle of water is included. Children aged 0 to 5 go free but must be on the booking.
- Weather permitting; free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Full details on the boat page.
The boat on its own costs from about €22 on the official website. Bus + boat combos are on Tiqets from €46 (24 or 48 hours of bus); on GetYourGuide, the combo with cathedral, bus and boat is from €53.
Take the boat in the morning
In summer the sea breeze (the embat) comes in after midday and peaks around 14:00. On a 50-minute trip inside the port it's no big deal, but if you get seasick, take the 11:00 or 12:00 boat. More in our weather guide.
If you just want the boat, Mallorca City Boat (formerly Cruceros Marco Polo), which presents itself as City Sightseeing's official boat trip, sells its 55-minute trip for €19 from the same Escala Real, Monday to Saturday 11:00–17:00. I look at it in our review. And if you want something longer, with a swim in a cove, see the boat trips from Palma port.

My pick is the 24-hour ticket on GetYourGuide (from €27, 4.1 out of 5 from more than 5,000 reviews): it's the same bus as on the official website and usually cheaper. The €53 combo with cathedral, bus and boat has only a couple of reviews, and very low ones; if you want all three, you're better off buying the Cathedral ticket separately. If you're torn between platforms, read our reviews of GetYourGuide and Tiqets.

Is the hop-on hop-off bus worth it, or is the EMT city bus better?
An EMT city bus single costs €2 in cash (according to the official fares; with a contactless card you pay less, with discounts from 40%; the city council has given initial approval to raising the single fare to €3). With two or three journeys you can cover almost everything the sightseeing bus does for under €10.
For
- Takes you up to Bellver and drops you at the door, with no steps or hills.
- Ideal for cruise passengers: stop 14 is the closest to the terminal and the bus brings you back to the port.
- Audio guide in 8 languages: you understand what you're seeing without reading anything.
- Wheelchair accessible, handy with older relatives or a pushchair.
Against
- In the afternoon it comes every 45 minutes: long waits.
- The last bus that stops at Bellver gets you there with the castle about to close.
- The old town is better on foot: the bus doesn't go down the narrow streets.
- It costs as much as about 15 EMT journeys at €2.
My advice, depending on who you are:
- Cruise day visit: yes, worth it, especially if you don't want to wrestle with city buses. From Estacions Marítimes and Dic de l'Oest there's also EMT line 1 to the Passeig Marítim and Plaça d'Espanya for €2.
- Family with children or older relatives: yes, for Bellver and to avoid walking between the port and the centre.
- Couple happy to walk: no. The Cathedral, the Almudaina, the Arab Baths and the Born are a few minutes' walk from each other; for Bellver, take the EMT to Plaça Gomila and the steps.
- If you're going to the Aquarium: the sightseeing bus doesn't go there. Take the EMT 35 from Plaça de la Reina; details in our Palma Aquarium guide.
To plan the whole day, see our guide to things to do in Palma, and if you have an evening spare, the flamenco show on Av. de Portugal is a short walk from stop 4, Plaça d'Espanya.
