Barcos Azules is the boat company that runs from Port de Sóller to Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent, and our view of it is positive: fair prices, large stable boats and a genuine discount if you buy on its website. Its weak points are the rigid return timetable and an inflexible cancellation policy.
Verdict
4.2/ 5
A family business with a large fleet and clearly published fares, cheaper on its website than at the ticket office or on GetYourGuide. It's the scheduled line between Sóller and Sa Calobra, so the real question isn't whether to book with it but where and at what time. We mark it down for its unclear, strict cancellation policy and because only two boats a day come back from Sa Calobra.

Who Barcos Azules are
The trading name is Barcos Azules ("Blue Boats") and the company, according to its legal notice, is Transportes Marítimos Puerto de Sóller S.L. (another page of its website calls it "Excursiones Marítimas Puerto Sóller S.L.", but the legal notice takes precedence). The official website is barcoscalobra.com; the old barcosazules.com domain redirects there.
It's a family business now in its fourth generation. The fleet adds up to 9 boats and around 1,500 seats. The largest are the catamarans J. Capapuig (414 seats) and Panorama (394), followed by the monohulls Torrent de Pareis (350) and Cala Tuent (250). It also has the Calobra, a rustic wooden boat, and a 47-seat water taxi.
The ticket office is on the Muelle Comercial (commercial quay) in Port de Sóller, unit 2-3, open 09:00–13:30 and 16:00–18:00.
What it offers
- Sa Calobra and the Torrent de Pareis: the flagship route, about an hour along the coast of the Serra de Tramuntana. From the quay to the Torrent beach is about a 10-minute walk. The full guide is in boat from Sóller to Sa Calobra.
- Cala Tuent: leaves Sóller at 09:50 and returns from Tuent at 16:50, about 50 minutes, from 1 April to 31 October. The beach has no lifeguard, sunbeds or bar; the Es Vergeret restaurant is a 5–15 minute walk away.
- Sa Foradada: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 2.5 hours without landing, with one drink.
- Swim-and-slide cruise: about 2 h 45 min with a swim stop of roughly 35 minutes from the boat. It doesn't land at Sa Calobra or Cala Tuent, so it's no good for seeing the Torrent de Pareis. Snorkel gear, food and drink aren't included.
- It also hires out boats with or without a skipper (without one, only if you hold a boating licence), electric llaüts (traditional Mallorcan boats) and private catamarans.

The boat is also part of the "Round the Island" combo with the Sóller train: tourmallorca, the train's partner, sells it direct at €65 independently or €78 guided, so it isn't exclusive to any platform.
Out by boat, back by road
With a single ticket (€23) you can reach Sa Calobra by sea and return by car or coach along the mountain road, without depending on the 13:45 and 16:40 returns. Cyclists do the opposite: they take their bike on the boat for €2 and skip the climb out of Sa Calobra.

What travellers say
The company doesn't show its own ratings on its website. The Sóller–Sa Calobra boat ticket sold by GetYourGuide was rated 4.4 out of 5 from 1,218 reviews when we checked; that's the product's score on the platform, not the company's. Its own website pre-empts the most common complaints: that you can't change the date once confirmed and that there's no refund within the three days before. Read it before you buy.
How to book and cancel
- Online at reservas.barcoscalobra.com, with the 10% discount until 20:00 the day before. The ticket on your phone is exchanged for a boarding card at the ticket office.
- At the ticket office: no ticket limit, but what you buy there is non-refundable.
- Arrive 15 minutes early at the Muelle Comercial with photo ID (and a Spanish ID card if you're paying the resident fare).
Cancellation: read the small print
The booking conditions say you can cancel free of charge up to 3 days before, with a 20% charge within 24 hours and 100% for no-shows. The booking system, however, warns that there's no refund within 3 days. The two texts don't match: assume the stricter one. If the company cancels because of bad weather, you choose a new date or a full refund, with no further compensation. Conditions at barcoscalobra.com/condiciones-de-reserva.
